An Amazing incident

One peculiarity of Sai Baba of Shirdi, was warding of troubles many a times grave problems of his beloved devotees while in Masjid (Dwarkamai). These are all recorded as miracles and why not.

One incident that comes to my mind is once Sai Baba suddenly got up and began to move in the Masjid waving his arm and shouting, i will not let this happen to Nana. I will not let death take him away. The devotees sitting in Masjid who were by now quiet familiar with the spiritual and miraculous powers of Sai Baba, whose intense love for his devotees, ever eager for the safety and welfare of his devotees. The devotees knew that Nanasaheb Chandorkar a beloved devotee of Sai Baba was in some kind of danger and Sai Baba was eager to save him. At the same time Nana Chandorkar was travelling in a tonga (horse carriage used as the primary mode of transport then) and the tonga had met an accident, which could have a fatal results for Nanasaheb. Nanasaheb at the moment of accident remembered Sai Baba and prayed him deeply for the protection and was saved with minor injuries. It was after few days that Nanasaheb visited Shirdi and was told about Sai Baba's reactions, which he recognized that Sai Baba was waving his hands and shouting exactly at the same time the accident had occurred.

Another similar incident is about saving a child from falling in the fire and burning his own hand, the incident described in the earlier post Sai Baba of Suffering.

This is one of the similar incident that happened, during the World War I. One Capt. Jahanghir F. Daruwala was at the sea with a fleet of passenger Ship. All but the three ships were hit by the enemy and were sinking fast. The captain realized that the remaining three Ship would meet the same fate soon, and was eager to ferry those Ship to safety.

Being the devotee of
Sai Baba and his faith and devotion strong in Sai Baba, he took out the picture of Sai Baba which he always kept in his pocket and prayed to Sai Baba with the intensity and urgency right from his heart. He wanted nothing but the safety of the remaining Ships.

At the same moment
Sai Baba was sitting with few devotees in Masjid Mai (Dwarkamai). He shouted, " Haq, Haq.". The devotees sitting there were astonished to see Sai Baba getting drenched with water. Water began to flow from his drenched clothes filling the floor of Masjid Mai. Devotees had to draw buckets after buckets of water from the Masjid Mai for one hour, in an effort to get the floor of Masjid Mai dry as before. Sai Baba was given dry clothes to wear.

Sai Baba kept silent for what had happened and none of the present devotees had the courage to ask about it to Sai Baba. One of the devotees took the water as Tirth (Holy water) and found it to be brackish in taste.

At the same time Captain
Daruwala saw Sai Baba in person, pull and tow his ships to safety.

On the third day after this incident
Sai Baba received a telegram from Captain Daruwala, thanking him for the rescue of the Ships. Soon as he arrived in India, he went to Shirdi and fell at Sai Baba's feet thanking Sai Baba for rescuing the ships and thus saving his and the passenger's lives.

Capt. Daruwala was an ardent devotee and he took a great deal of interest in Baba’s affairs. He donated Rs.2,200/- in two installments for the repair of the Sabha Mandap. As a small ‘thank you gesture’.
